Port Townsend Road Trip,
Forts and Ports of the Peninsula
Full day (8 – 10 hours)
Ride a ferry away from the city to see the amazing waterways of the Puget Sound and the Salish Sea. This Port Townsend road trip will include lots of nature, history, wildlife and some pit stops of the human made things such as galleries, distilleries, winery, or even possibly a weed shop (its legal here!)
Port Gamble is Washington’s oldest company town, est. 1853, when lumber was king. That takes us to the Hood Canal bridge and amazing factoids about the Naval presence in this area of the state. The multiple forts on the peninsula feature an array of historic sites as well as some (sorta) modern trivia (Fort Worden is where an Officer and a Gentleman was filmed!)
The tour includes the historic, Victorian seaport town of Pt. Townsend, with great shops, wooden boat center and a very cool working boatyard, and of course loads of interesting architecture. This tour has something for everyone who wants to spend a nice day outside of the big city!
As with all Check Out Cascadia tours, this includes door-to-door service as well as a conscientious eye towards your comfort. There will be at least one meal stop (pub or local joint) and any other rest stops as needed. You won’t feel rushed and the tour’s pace will follow your interests.
Note: Due to the limitations of ferry travel, this trip is not recommended on Sundays.
